Our dodgy spell continued this week with defeat at home to Cheltenham, but should we have seen the light of the Notts County win was a false dawn at the time? Nick seems to think so, and the problems we’ve been having, arguably since the turn of the year, continue to raise more questions than answers. However, Stu has one key reason as to why our form has dropped off, but can the issue he highlights be resolved in time to keep us in the play-off places come May? Alongside discussion of our trials comes a look ahead to the game at Carlisle on Saturday, MFWAJJOTM, and a chat about our finances, and how we offset losses without player sales …
Maycock has to start. Kelly is a better player when Maycock is on the pitch as well. Omar determines our style of play too much for me and so JJ will have to sort something out for the Barrow game without him that could give us an option for the last nine games to look more threatening up front.
Revenue – non-attending ST holders cost us in terms of bodies in the ground but also the potential increase in other sales by those who attend in their place in addition to the benefit of selling the ticket.
Before his injury, Maycock was in great from and providing us much needed attacking threat from midfield.
I am a big Omar fan and I agree he dictates our style of play, however that has not done us too bad this season. I think the key is to have different options from the bench and not just in terms of replacing like for like, but changing our attacking focus and formation slightly.
We have discussed the revenue angle with clubs wanting to reduce ST’s generally, especially in the EPL as tourism provides clubs with fans who will spend more pre head, than a normal ST holder will.
I have always been off the opinion that a ST holders has provided the club with money up front and with that they are much needed source of income, however we need to make it easier for ST holders to resell there tickets with easier platforms and promotions to encourage them to release their ticket if they are not attending.
