A little disquiet has accompanied the release of season and matchday ticket prices for next season. Nick and Stu consider the issues, and whether the costs are justified, and if some of the criticism has been a little unfair. Alongside that, we revisit the latest 2-2 draw from 2-0 up, and wonder whether the point with Barrow was actually better than it felt on Saturday night, and if it will serve us in the long run. We also have MFWAJJOTM and a look ahead to the trip to Warsaw on Saturday.
The vast amount of ST holders won’t have an issue with the increase, whether paying the EB price or the full price by DD. The kids pricing is too low as too many kid seats are empty because the cost is so low that some parents buy a kid ticket just so they can come to a few games. This is probably (although I can’t verify it, it’s just a feeling) as big an issue as ST holders not reselling their tickets if unable to attend.
Agree 100% about the bond. Without it we wouldn’t have Plough Lane as it is, but too many ignore the fact that the bond interest and repayments need to be funded and it’s a lot of money as it was in 2019! Seems to me that too many fans are comfortable to be at the stadium and are unaware of the financial issues faced by the owners – DT members and fans.
As a funding idea, I often find that I have an ability to to drop £10 per game into a bucket for a donation. I’d like to see a terminal at the ground where people could swipe their card or phone to make a donation to the club. Worth considering? Maybe have it in the fanzone as pissed up fans could well donate after a win!
