On This Day in 2010 … Two goals in three minutes gave Wimbledon a famous victory over Crawley Town in a Conference Premier League fixture at Kingsmeadow. Danny Kedwell scored the winning goal for the Dons, having been subject to a bid from the visitors in the weeks prior to the game, and the victory took Wimbledon above Crawley and to the top of the fledgling league table. Matt Tubbs had given Crawley the lead just before half-time, but Sam Hatton equalised with 15 mintues remaining, and Kedwell’s looping header sent home fans into ectasy three mintues later. A brief report of the game can be found on the BBC web site; highlights of the game have been inexplicably hidden on YouTube.

Myles Hippolyte’s first goal of the season completed a 2-1 win at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday. Ryan Johnson (70′) also scored for the first time this campaign: he equalised an Owen Bailey (53′) goal before Hippolyte’s winner on 82 minutes. The win is the Dons second consecutive comeback victory. Johnnie Jackson said his team were “outstanding” and praised the way they “saw the game out” having gone ahead. Doncaster boss Grant McCann said his side had conceded “two really soft goals” in a game in which there was little difference between the two sides. Highlights of the match can be found on YouTube.

Wycombe Wanderers visit Plough Lane on Saturday. Kick-off is at 12.30pm as the game is being shown on the Sky Sports Plus service. Wycombe beat Northampton Town 2-0 on Saturday: it was Michael Duff’s first game as manager after Mike Dodds was relieved of his duties late last week. Tickets can be bought on the Dons ticketing web site.

Aron Sasu is nursing a minor hamstring injury. The forward, 20, could make a return for the Wycombe game. There is no word on why Antwoine Hackford was not in the squad for Saturday’s trip to Rotherham.

Harry Sidwell’s loan to Dagenham & Redbridge has been extended by a month. Sidwell, 19, has already spent four weeks at the National League South side, making four appearances.

The Dons Trust Board has clarified the situation regarding this year’s elections. In a statement released on Friday, the DTB confirmed that six candidates are vying for five spots on the board. The statement also explained the reasoning behind the decision to prevent one prospective candidate from standing, and explained other changes to the election rules brought in this year. In response, Ian Robinson, who resigned from the board last week, issued a second statement, disputing the exact nature of how new rules were established and agreed upon. The remaining candidates for election have taken part in video hustings, conducted by Graham Stacey. These are available on YouTube with all links available here.

The Women’s team lost 1-0 to Gwalia United on Sunday. The defeat leaves the ladies still searching for the first win of the National League Southern Premier Divison, with five games played. They now have a break before travelling to bottom side Billericay Town on Sunday 5 October (2.00pm).

The latest edition of the 9yrspodcast was released on Friday. Nick and Stu discussed the issues surrounding the Trust elections, as well as the win over Rotherham. The podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube via this link.
