On This Day in 2014 … and 2017 … Wimbledon hosted Plymouth Argyle at Kingsmeadow, failing to score on both occasions. In 2014, the teams played out a 0-0 draw in a League Two game that your editor must admit having no recollection of whatsoever. In 2017, Argyle took all three points from a League One fixture thanks to a second-half Joel Grant goal. The date does not appear to be a successful one for the Dons, with our researchers unable to find a single win. For the masochists out there, highlights of the 2017 defeat to Plymouth, featuring some vintage Liam Trotter pressing, are available on YouTube.

Wimbledon sit fourth in the table after Saturday’s win at Plymouth Argyle. The 2-1 victory, courtesy of goals from Omar Bugiel (45′) and Marcus Browne (59′), means the Dons are now six unbeaten in League One, and top the form table. Johnnie Jackson praised his side’s “resolute defending” and ability to turn the game around after going behind to a Laurent Tolaj goal after just six minutes. Jackson was especially complimentary of Ryan Johnson, who was making his 100th appearance for the club. Plymouth manager Tom Cleverley, whose side now sit 21st in the division, said his side were “too easy” to crack, especially having gone in front. They are next in action on Thursday night away at Exeter City. Highlights of the match can be found on YouTube.
