On This Day in 2012 …  The first meeting of Wimbledon and Milton Keynes. Whilst the Dons lost the FA Cup Second Round tie 2-1, no-one watching the game on ITV could have been left in any doubt as to who the proper club was. Backed by a travelling army of 3,000 fans, who did not stop singing all game, the struggling League Two side, made from a hodge-podge of loanees, were the better team on the day against their high-flying League One hosts, and Jack Midson’s equaliser on the hour mark was a moment that will live in Dons’ fans memories forever. Hilariously, it prompted the only bit of noise from the hosts’ support – the booing of jubilant fans who entered the pitch momentarily. You can watch the goal and the celebrations on YouTube.

Aron Sasu scored four goals in Wimbledon’s 5-1 win at Cardiff City this evening. Omar Bugiel was also on the scoresheet for the Dons, who claim £20,000 and a place in the Football League Trophy Southern Section Quarter-Final as a result of the victory.

Wimbledon drew for the first time away from home in League One this season on Saturday. The 3-3 draw at Huddersfield Town was also the first time the Dons have shared the spoils with that scoreline since our first home game with fans back at Plough Lane in August 2021 (vs Bolton Wanderers), and also maintains Wimbledon’s unbeaten league form when wearing green and black. Despite being on the back foot for the majority of the game, the Dons managed to take the lead three times (Browne 32′, Orsi 48′, Johnson 71′), but were pegged back each time (Castledine 46′, Wiles 63′, May 86′). However, Johnnie Jackson was not at all disappointed with the result, saying how proud he was of his side for giving “absolutely everything” and putting an end to three consecutive league defeats. Under pressure Town boss Lee Grant was less happy, despite his side’s comeback, believing his team had created enough chances to “win five or six games” and were not good enough defensively. Extended highlights of the game can be found on YouTube.

The Dons have a break from action this weekend. They travel to Exeter City for their next League One fixture on Tuesday 9 November (7.45pm). A full preview of the game will appear here next Tuesday, with the update coming earlier that day. Exeter host Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Antwoine Hackford and Delano McCoy-Splatt will be out of action until after Christmas. Hackford has a hamstring injury, picked up in training. McCoy-Splatt is said to be out “long-term” without any specific information coming forward.

Leo Young has joined Ramsgate on loan for a month. Young, who has just turned 20, played in Ramsgate’s 2-2 Isthmian Premier Division draw at Whitehawk on Saturday.

The Dons Trust AGM is less than a fortnight away. The meeting takes place at Plough Lane on Monday 15 December, starting at 7.00pm. Papers for the meeting can be found here, with more information about the meeting available here.

The Women’s team beat Hashtag United on Sunday. The girls twice came from beind to win 3-2 with goals from Ashlee Hincks, Alisha Buckingham, and Aliyat Lambe. The win leaves Wimbledon 10th in the National League Premier Division South. They host Real Bedford Ladies (4th) in their final fixture of the calendar year on Sunday (7th November); kick-off at Imperial Fields is at 2.00pm.

Dons Trust Chair Angus Fox spoke to the Same Old Wombles this week. Angus discussed our financial situation, and how he views fan ownership going forward. Listen online here.
