Rochdale moved above us in the table after beating Accrington last night. Their 1-0 win at The Crown Ground moved them two points clear of the relegation zone and above Wycombe, who lost 1-0 at home to Charlton – their ninth defeat from their last 12 games. We are now 22nd in League One; one point from safety.
We drew 1-1 with Cambridge United in a friendly yesterday. Michael Folivi scored our goal just before half-time, with Cambridge equalising early in the second-half. We fielded a strong line-up, with Shane McLoughlin and Terell Thomas getting 90 minutes, and Deji Oshilaja and Kwesi Appiah also featuring. The game was played behind closed doors at Merstham FC.
Wally Downes has been nominated for March’s League One Manager of the Month award. The other nominees are Lee Bowyer of Charlton, Luton’s Mick Harford, and the Oxford manager. The winner will be announced this Friday morning (12 April).
Nominations for the League One Player of the Month award have also been announced. There is no space for the likes of Joe Pigott who has catapulted us up the league with vital goals, but the list comprises of Marcus Maddison (Peterborough), Jonson Clarke-Harris (Bristol Rovers), Dimitri Cavare (Barnsley), and Lucas Akins (Burton Albion).
Aaron Ramsdale has been nominated for the PFA Fans Player of the Month in League One award, however. The winner is being decided by a public vote, and the polls close tomorrow morning (11 April) at 8:00am.
