DAILY UPDATE: WED 1 MAY

Congratulations to Luton Town and Barnsley on winning promotion to The Championship. Defeats for Sunderland (2-1 at Fleetwood) and Portsmouth (3-2 at home to Peterborough) last night mean that both sides will have to settle for a play-off spot. Peterborough’s win means they could still pip Doncaster to the final play-off place.

We will have fans in two different stands at Bradford. The initial allocation in the Midland Road stand down the side appears to have been sold, and supporters are now receiving tickets for the two-tier TL Dallas stand behind the goal, which we have not been in since an old Nationwide Division One game in 2001 (drew 3-3).

Last night’s Kit Sponsors Dinner at Kingsmeadow attracted its best attendance ever. Well, since 2002 at least. We don’t have records for before then. Roughly 180 guests sat in the back bar to have a meal with the players and football staff, and the evening concluded with a speech from Wally, in which he thanked all the staff at the club, and our army of volunteers.

Tyler Burey seems set to leave the club this summer. We understand that the 18-year-old winger has been unable to agree to a new contract.

Er … that’s it really. Definitely a slow news week as we all await judgement day on Saturday. Our editor could discuss wrestling at this point, but it’s probably not the best idea. Alexa Bliss.

That said, this Daily Update feature will still continue until Friday 10 May. After that date, we will look to produce a weekly close-season update, on a day to be confirmed. You can receive email notifications for when all updates are available: email 9yrs@may14.co.uk with the subject line, “Daily Update Notification” and you will be contacted as soon as the update is published. As always, any comments, suggestions, or criticisms are welcome: please comment below or email the above address.

ON THIS DAY – 2007. That 1-0 defeat to Bromley in the Ryman Premier play-off semi-final. Hayes Lane was the worst place we ever visited. Nic McDonnell scored the only goal; Wes Daly was sent-off for collecting two bookings. It sucked.
